I love to sew. I love to feel the fabric. I love the thread. I love to cut material into little pieces and then put it back together. Color is my friend.

Blue and white has always been a classic combination. My inspiration was the clouds slowly drifting across the deep blue sky in the summer of 2004. I was sitting in the yard while my kids were on the playground closeby, relaxing in a lawn chair, just enjoying the day. Of course I started to think about what a great quilt blue and white would make. But what pattern? Stars, of course, they are my favorite. So I picked a few and started piecing. Some by hand (the hard ones just for fun), and then my online guild started a star BOM. Most ladies did a montly theme, but I continued the blue and white.

I played with setting in EQ5 and my dh liked this one the best. It will grace our bed, and brighten up the room. I will have the local long armer quilt it maybe with light blue thread. I will take it there on Tues (closed on Mon) and discuss it with her.

BTW, the cutie helping hold the quilt is my ds, 4.

I'm the dh that picked the pattern from EQ5. Rebecca asked for a voluntary/compulsory post concerning her talent.

All joking aside, she has developed a tremendous talent. I was the recipient of her first attempt many years ago...it's a humorous story - I'll let her tell it.

Since then, she has grown in her sense of color and design. I love bragging about her quilting. I have never been artistic and so stand in awe of the items she makes.

She gets a lot of satisfaction from quilting - bordering on the obsessive perhaps. Still, I have my own obsessions and we are happy in them.

I have no gripes about the time or money she spends on quilting. The beauty and love that comes from and is poured into her creations are priceless.

I hope you get a chance to know her and her creations. I know she's very proud of them - almost as proud as I am of her.

Very beautiful quilt. I love it! There have been some great samplers shown lately, I have to make one soon! Hope your dog has been good and redeemed him/herself.

I love blue and white. I have a blue/white UFO but haven't decided how to quilt yet so it sits. It haunts the back on my mind. I want it on my bed but haven't decided on quilting. Good work and beatiful quilt.

Wonderful quilt! I have used a similar setting in the past and really liked it! How great that you have this all ready for the long arm quilter! And what nice comments from your DH - sounds like you have a devoted fan! Now, if I can just teach my Little Boy how to hold up my tops for photos instead of jumping all over them, I will be lucky!!!

Cheers!

Evelyn

Samplers are so much fun to do because every block is different. Yours looks great. I love the setting - IMHO it's much more interesting than a simple sashing. And your son is a real cutie pie!

I love your opening statement. I think that describes me to a T! I also love this quilt. What's not to like about blue and white! One of my UFOs is a set of blue/white swap blocks from around 1994. I know how I want to set them together but I need to make a few more blocks first.

Sounds like you have a big fan in your DH. Most I usually get out of mine is "that's nice."
