So these are the new placemats for my brother. He gave a set away that I made for him, using the Cotton Theory, to some girl he dated for awile. I made two just to try out the pattern, and see how the colors would go together. I am using a print with many animals on it for the focus squares. I think the moose is kind of off center, but not enough to start over. Since they are for a single guy, I chose dark colors.

Do you ever get sick of your neighbors? Like, why can't they just mind their own business? I don't complain about my neighbors to the landlord, I just think live and let live. Vent, vent, vent!!!

Excellent choice of fabrics for a single guy! I am sure he will love those placemats!

I think for these placemats, you need to make a label for each on the back... "With love to my brother from Rebecca" so he can't pass them on... lol

Sorry to hear you've got neighbor problems. Was your sewing machine too loud too late at night? :)

Nice "guy" placemats. I think the animals look good - centered just fine.

I like that placemat pattern, and your animal fabrics, they really are a great 'guy' choice.

I like the new placemats. And I agree with ForestJane. I'd put labels on these!

Bad neighbors can be a nightmare. I'm blessed with very good neighbors. With the exception of their dog that barks constantly. But it's far enough away from our house that it's only mildly annoying. Hopefully you'll resolve your problem with your neighbors or just tell them MYOB!

Did you tell your brother he can't give this set away? LOL! Making them so mannish might keep a girl from wanting them from him. I like them, though.

One of the things I like about our mobile lifestyle is that if the neighbors are too annoying, or too noisy, or too anything, I can just move. =)

Love the placemat - what is the name of that block?

feel free to vent... I've so far lucked out with pretty good neightbors, the 50 something year old son upstairs is mentally disabled, so we can forgive his noseyness & his mom got us out of a BIND when we locked ourselves out!

Let's hope he hangs onto this set and learned his lesson from your reaction. Sewing for others is a finite thing---you don't have to necessarily make more for them if they appear not to appreciate your first efforts.

Neighbors? I am sick to death of all the dogs barking--one that starts in right at bedtime is particularly annoying. And one is constanly burning something and I have problems with smoke lately. Most of the owners are not particularly obnoxious and leave us alone. Will never be the type that wants them over at my house or chat over the fence.

Great placemats for a guy - after the last set I think I would write his name on the bottom of each of these in permanant marker! Grin!

Cheers!
