$500!!!!

I work for a lady who was disabled in a car accident that also took the life of her husband. She asked me this week if I would take his wool shirts and make some couch throws for her three daughters. She gave me $500 as a down payment! There are 19 shirts and I can cut about 30 6 1/2 inch squares from each shirt. I figure about 120 squares for each throw, flannel backing, and see what she wants me to do with the rest, probably quilts for the grandkids. WOW! I'm getting paid to do what I love to do!!! My dog was barking barking barking this morning. It was driving me crazy! When it got light outside, I could see who was in my backyard!!

Those will be great throws- something that I have been wanting to do one day. Love your visitor, but hope he moves along soon.

Your picture doesn't enlarge - is it a moose? How neat!

That's great about making the throws. You'll enjoy this so much - and it sounds like she has a pretty good idea what your work is worth. Good for you!

Isn't it great to earn money on our hobby.
I am getting about 30 kilo moose-meat today. That's the best meat I can eat.

What a lovely thing to do for his daughters - and so nice to get paid for doing it too

What a wonderful idea - they will love their quilts made from dad's shirts. And you get paid for it too - nothing better than that :-)

What a treasured gift for those daughters. I have a few of my daddy's wool shirts hanging in my closet. I can't bear to cut them up, someday maybe. For now I just like how they smell, just like my daddy's aftershave and pipe tabacco. I have stacks and stacks of his jeans that I will someday make into a quilt but for now they are stored away until I am in the mood to sew on denim..ugh...makes me tired thinking of it.

Hi Rebecca,
Karen P here - love seeing your pics. Can't make out if that was a horse or moose?
What model Brother Embroidery machine do you have? I'm looking to buy one.

I'm like Karen and cannot quite make it out--horse or moose? No wonder the dog was barking!

Commissioned quilts--nice if you have the time to do it. That's my weeks goal--I have two to do.

I would never have guessed you could get 30 6 1/2 inch squares form a shirt. That's amazing. The snow looks cold. Brrr...
