This is my newest project. It is counted cross stitch. But I have a problem. I can't count! I count 42 little squares on the pattern and then stitch 42 little x's and then recount, and there are 45! aargh! How do you avoid this??! This little picture will be 16x20.

Still working on the lillies. I am clipping the seams, and then will sew the horizontal lines.

What a darling pattern and what a feat to have completed it. Love the motifs in it.

Ha, that 'counting' is what trips me up every time with a counted cross-stitch project!

Beautiful project, Rebecca !
I know what you mean with counting. My DH is always laughing at me because I count ALOUD ! LOL : "two xs - pass three - 6 x's - pass two" etc......

Husg & smiles to you !

I don't know. I haven't done a lot of it, because I hate the counting. A good magnifying glass probably helps. I tend to start in the middle and make the number that I'm supposed to in a small section, and move on from there. Needless to say, I have lots of extra fabric all around, just in case!

Very nice! Some people will baste a grid onto the fabric first and have an easier reference point that way. I over and understitch too....a LOT! Grrrr....

I ask myself quite often if it will make a difference (the mistake). If not it gets left in.

Hi,

try having a grid basted on there of 10 or 20 stitches, that helps according to some people. I have not done so yet, but for some things it might be good.
